Advisory Board Meeting
July 13, 2022
A meeting of the Advisory Board of Southeast Area Cooperative was held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the office of Southeast Area Cooperative, Beresford, South Dakota. Members present were: Tim Rhead, Alcester-Hudson School District; Dustin Degen, Beresford School District; Russ Townsend, Canton School District; and Dave Hutchison, Irene-Wakonda School District. Also present were Tricia West, Director and Ann Boden, Business Manager Southeast Area Cooperative.
Tim Rhead called the meeting to order at 11:03 a.m.
A motion was made by Dave Hutchison and seconded by Dustin Degen to approve the agenda. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
Public Hearing as authorized by the Board of Directors for Wednesday, July 13, 2022 was held on the proposed 2022-2023 budget. Ann Boden presented the budget. A motion was made by Dave Hutchison and seconded by Russ Townsend to recommend approval of the 2022-2023 budget to the Board of Directors. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made Russ Townsend and seconded by Dustin Degen to appoint Brett Mellem as Advisory Board President and Tim Rhead as Advisory Board Vice President. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dustin Degen and seconded by Dave Hutchison to approve the minutes of the June 22, 2022 regular meeting. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
The financial report as prepared by the Business Manager for June 2022 was presented: General Fund Beginning Balance: $714,292; Receipts: $72,089; Disbursements: $172,145 for an ending balance of $614,236. A motion was made by Dave Hutchison and seconded by Dustin Degen to approve the financial report as presented. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A listing of bills was presented. A motion was made by Russ Townsend and seconded by Dave Hutchison to approve the payment 2022 year-end bills and July bills. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dustin Degen and seconded by Dave Hutchison to approve the Perkins Local Plan and the submission of the Perkins Grant. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dave Hutchison and seconded by Russ Townsend to set the Advisory board meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. All present voted yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dustin Degen and seconded by Dave Hutchison to approve the hire of Lisa Vogt, Early Childhood SPED teacher and Carson Cody, Adapted PE teacher. All present voted yes. Motion carried.

- ASPEN training – August 13th
- IEP training – August 8th
- Paraprofessional training – August 9th
- New SAC staff orientation – August 12th
- SAC in-service – August 16th
- Open positions were reviewed.
A motion was made by Russ Townsend and seconded by Dustin Degen to adjourn the meeting. All present voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:43 a.m.
